FIT Regional Centres
The International Federation of Translators (FIT) has five active regional centres: FIT Europe, FIT Latin America, FIT North America, and, since 2023, FIT Africa and FIT Asia, which build and support regional projects and networks to support the profession.
These centres organise meetings, strengthen exchanges among member associations, and liaise with the FIT Council to support FIT’s activities in their respective regions.
FIT LATAM
The “REGIONAL CENTRE LATIN AMERICA” (FIT LatAm), created in May 2003, is part of the International Federation of Translators. The geographic-political region of the Regional Centre Latin America consists of the countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, whose official languages are primarily Spanish or Portuguese.
The objectives of FIT LatAm are of a professional, cultural, and academic nature, aimed at satisfying the needs of professionals within the geographic and political area of its jurisdiction, without adherence to political, religious, or commercial positions, and without any profit motive.

FIT North America is a Regional Centre of the Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs / International Federation of Translators (known as FIT). As a Regional Centre, we work to promote translation, interpreting, and allied professions in Canada, Mexico, and the United States.

FIT AFRICA is one of the five regional centres of the International Federation of Translators (FIT)
Our main aim is to serve, promote and protect translators, terminologists and interpreters on the African continent. We also strive to raise the status of the profession and to maintain standards across Africa. FIT Africa was founded during an inaugural meeting on 29 July 2023 and officially launched on 29 September 2023.

FIT Asia, launched on 20 January 2024 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is the newest regional centre of FIT. Built on the foundation of the Asia-Pacific Translation and Interpreting Forum (APTIF), it promotes collaboration among professional associations of translators, interpreters and terminologists across Asia, supporting professional development, sustainable practices and greater visibility of the profession regionally and internationally.
