FIT’s Strategic
Visibility
FIT recognizes the need to encourage cohesion and status through increased visibility.
- Promote FIT and maintain a credible professional profile at corporate, public, national, and international levels, including throughout the media.
- Continue to support FIT publications and respective committees.
- Build relationships with external stakeholders.
Community
FIT recognizes the need to consolidate a cohesive community through internal networks and collaboration, striving to build a community of informed members who promote best practices in the profession, reinforce community networks, and connect members.
- Foster a collaborative global community of language professionals who understand, promote, and actively engage with FIT.
- Celebrate International Translation Day (ITD): Continuing the celebration of ITD every 30th of September, a key event in the FIT annual calendar.
- Showcase FIT Congress and Awards: The FIT World Congress explores relevant industry themes, offers practical advice, and fosters international networking among FIT members and partners.
- Support other international events under the FIT umbrella, including:
- Asia Pacific Translation and Interpreting Forum (APTIF)
- International Legal Translation Forum
- International-level events hosted by or involving FIT Regional Centres
Future of the Profession
To promote a sustainable and harmonized profession, FIT believes it is essential to support the practice and training of future practitioners and pathways for growth. FIT aims to ensure all practitioners stay current with the latest technologies and trends, where possible advocating on their behalf in the development of technologies.
- Drive professionalism through training and professional development, particularly around the implementation of Artificial Intelligence.
- Develop future potential and build capacity within member associations.
- Build membership through an outreach program to non-members, enhancing the FIT profile in areas with limited exposure.
