About the FIT World Congress
Every three years, the International Federation of Translators FIT (Fédération Internationale des Traducteurs) holds its flagship event, the FIT World Congress, choosing a different international location and host each time. The World Congress is also known as the Open Congress, as it is open to all who wish to attend, whether they are a FIT member or not. It is held alongside the FIT Statutory Congress, FIT’s statutory meeting for its members.
FIT congresses are a triennial event, where interpreters, translators and terminologists, external stakeholders, representatives of UN agencies, academics and thought leaders can explore overarching themes around technology, literary translation, audio visual translation, indigenous languages, education and professional development, and the past and future of the global profession.
FIT World Congresses are for everyone, in all areas of the profession, whether members of a FIT association or not.
The XXIII FIT World Congress will be no exception. Attendees will have the chance to hone their craft and network with international colleagues at the beautiful venues on the shores of lake Geneva.
FIT is pleased to announce that the XXIII FIT World Congress will take place in Geneva, Switzerland on 4 – 6 September 2025.
We look forward to seeing you in Geneva!
About the FIT Statutory Congress
Alongside the FIT World Congress, FIT holds its statutory congress, a meeting of all FIT member associations to hear reports, conduct business and elect the new FIT Council and choose the host location for the next Congress.
Information about the statutory congress is shared with members eight months in advance of the date, with the final convening letter and call for registrations sent two months ahead of the congress.
